Writer: RCNJ StaffRCNJ Staff

Exciting news for our players, supporters, sponsors, and soccer community: Real Central NJ is making history by joining the professional ranks with our commitment to compete in WPSL PRO! After four incredible seasons in the WPSL, this step represents our unwavering commitment to growing the women’s game and providing professional playing opportunities for talented players in Central Jersey and the Mid-Atlantic region.

A HISTORIC MILESTONE FOR WOMEN’S SOCCER IN CENTRAL JERSEY

Since our founding in 2020, we’ve been dedicated to developing top-tier talent and fostering a strong soccer culture in the region. Our acceptance into WPSL PRO, the nation’s premier independent professional women’s soccer league, allows us to elevate that mission even further.

We're thrilled to take this monumental step to join WPSL PRO as it represents our club’s commitment to creating a professional pathway for exceptional female soccer talent throughout New Jersey. Our progression to the professional ranks fulfills a vision we've had since our inception.

Central Jersey has a rich soccer tradition, and it's an honor and a responsibility for us to build upon that legacy at the professional level. The response from our fans, sponsors, and soccer partners has been overwhelming. Their enthusiasm confirms what we've always believed—that our local community’s passion for women's soccer will help us create a special and enduring professional platform for our region’s players.

BUILDING ON A WINNING LEGACY

Our women’s team has made an undeniable impact in the WPSL since our debut in 2021. In 2024, we were named Colonial Division Franchise of the Year, and Head Coach Brian Thomsen earned Coach of the Year honors. We were also proud to have three players named to the Best XI, including Offensive Player of the Year, Bella Miller. In our inaugural 2021 season, we competed in the Conference Championship vs the Gotham FC Reserves, and in 2022 we won the Conference, earning the honor of hosting the WPSL East Region Playoffs. Our players have a consistent history of recognition, including NCAA All-American Ava Curtis being named to the WPSL Mid-Atlantic Best XI in 2024, 2023, and 2021, and Charlotte Hare being named Mid-Atlantic Defensive Player of the Year in 2022.

Now, with the expansion to WPSL PRO, we’re demonstrating our lasting commitment to providing a professional platform for the next generation of elite female athletes.

We are truly thankful to all the players who have proudly represented Real Central NJ on the field, as it is their commitment and success that paved the way for the club’s progression to professional soccer.

WHAT’S NEXT?

With our Letter of Intent officially accepted, we join a growing number of clubs advancing the women’s game through WPSL PRO’s path-to-pro model. We'll be sharing updates on coaching staff, player signings, and our inaugural WPSL PRO 2027 season schedule—so stay tuned!
