Central Jersey - Real Central NJ Soccer (RCNJ) is pleased to welcome Mercer United FC (MUFC) as its third youth club affiliate. Mercer United will run the RCNJ boys USL Academy League program, a U20 team playing in the Spring and Summer 2025. Plans are progressing for the team to play in showcase tournaments and the new USL Pathway Classic to be held in Tampa, FL in late April. Younger youth teams may also be attending the USL tournament.
“We’re excited for Mercer United FC to be our latest affiliate,” RCNJ Men’s Sporting Director Ira Jersey said. “The addition of another local youth club expands our talent identification reach, and will allow more players to participate in USL related events.”
Although run by Mercer United, the boys USL Academy team will be club agnostic, with a roster that will include some age eligible RCNJ USL League Two players. Real Central NJ fields a women’s and men’s team in the highest level pre-professional national soccer leagues in the country, the Women’s Premier Soccer League and USL League Two. The club also runs other adult programs such as the full year men’s program with teams in the Eastern Premier Soccer League and the Garden State Soccer League.
“Joining the Real Central youth affiliate network is a great step forward for our club,” said MUFC board member Matt O’Grady. “We’ve had players on RCNJ Select teams who found the experience really beneficial. This is a chance to help grow soccer in Mercer County. For our players to be scouted by RCNJ technical staff will be beneficial for our club as a whole.”
Mercer United joins existing RCNJ Youth Affiliates Match Fit Academy (West Windsor) and Next Level Soccer Academy (Pennington).
