The region's newest pre-professional soccer club announced today that their next women’s team signing is East Windsor native Megan Porras.
(Ewing, NJ) - The region's newest pre-professional soccer club announced today that their next women’s team signing is East Windsor native Megan Porras. Real Central NJ Soccer’s women's team will play in the WPSL beginning in May 2021. In January, WPSL saw 21 former players chosen in the National Women’s Soccer League 2021 draft.
“I am so excited to be a part of this team! I love the coaching staff and the girls that I’ve met!" Porras says. "It is going to be a fun and competitive season. I can’t wait for May!!”
“When you think about what our mission is, attracting the best local talent who grew up and played in the area was definitely a high priority in selecting players," says women's head coach Brian Thomsen. "With Meg being a Pennington School alumni along with playing club ball locally, she is exactly the type of player we want to build the club around. We are ecstatic to have her with us this summer and hopefully for many more. In addition, when you walk onto a field and Meg lights it up with smiles, laughter, and competitive fire! You just want to be around her!”
The 21-year-old defender is in her 3rd year playing for Belmont University and is known for her on-field vision and consistent ability to lead the transition from defending to attacking. Meg was a four-year varsity player at the Pennington School and during her sophomore season at Belmont, the team earned an OVC championship ring and participated in the NCAA tournament.
“We are excited that our team’s roster continues to grow with players hailing from Central Jersey. Meg has been an impactful player during her high school and club career and her tenacity and drive will benefit the team’s culture”, said Ben Chrnelich, General Manager of the Women’s program.
